I’m sure you’ve heard of businesses supporting causes, and maybe you’ve considered it to some extent but don’t know how, or where to start.

Corporate Social Responsibility is becoming more and more important to today’s businesses as consumers continue to prioritize both in a growing-general sense as well as in the wake of COVID-19 and the racial equality movement that we’ve been experiencing this year.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a growing business sector that prioritizes socially responsible business practices such as Environmental Efforts, Philanthropy, Ethical Labor Practices, Volunteering etc.

The efforts made by businesses to support socially responsible efforts can not only help a company’s consumer image, but can also help a company’s bottom line. Examples of this could be lower packaging costs, by cutting out excess plastic/non-renewable resources, or lower employee turnover by treating employees fairly and ethically.

Contrary to the term Corporate in the name, CSR isn’t just for large businesses. Any business can participate and by doing so are helping to set the bar for their industry to collectively make a bigger and more positive impact on our world.

Here are a few ways to get started:

Involve your employees in finding a cause that relates to your business/industry that you can regularly donate to or volunteer with periodically as a company.

Find ways to cut back on energy or replace non-renewable materials with more sustainable ones.

Check in with your employees to make sure you’re providing them with sufficient support for their needs, desires and employee engagement with your company.

Hire someone that specializes in corporate responsibility to help your business incorporate responsible business practices and policies on a larger scale.
